[stylist] Tanka

Or, exhausted!
all aboard!
I did find a really great Tanka magazine today and on the "about" tab there
is a very thorough explanation of things we have been discussing here. It's
interesting to hear what you all have had to say and I was surprised at the
amount of interest in this topic.
The mag is called "American Tanka" if anyone wants to delve into it further.
The latest issue has 20 tanks published and I loved the way each page has
only one tanka so that a reader can be totally absorbed in the "moment" of
the poem. When it is all said and done, the tanka is about just one moment
in time. For more you can visit: www.americantanka.com

Tanka does not have to be about nature as haiku does but many still seem to
be nature related or metaphorically so. Just an observance on my part
But as will all forms of oriental poetry the difference between 'English'
translation of the rules and the Oriental version can be hugely contrasting.
It can leave you scratching your head.
