Bill,
I just love the latter half of this poem, the intense feeling, the rhymes,
and think of it as an "Ars Poetica" supreme. Here are the lines I love.

BE hot and mad and wolverine,

and forge your letters silver keen,

that they might cut and cure

with selfsame stroke, a pure

address to shadowed heart

Be wild and high and lion's tooth

and if so bent, invent the truth.

Hey Fellow Scribblers,

Here's my second poem titled "Advice", in which I, no surprise, offer my
thoughts to would-be poets. If I had written this at age 24 it would
have been insufferable, of course, but I'm 48 and claim a little wisdom
on the subject. I fully realize that I might be wrong about this, LOL.
Enjoy, if you like.

Advice (2)

It's birthed in a heart-thrill,

a knowing, handfuls of yes

in brain-soil growing,

and alphabet square with

rounded soul fused.

It's candle-thought bourne

through the night fields

whose other name

I do not speak.

Awaken with

poem on your hands,

as if, in love,

you murdered the king

as if you bathed

in Cambrian brine

as if you knew

the secret sign

and told it to the garbage man.

O poet:

BE hot and mad and wolverine,

and forge your letters silver keen,

that they might cut and cure

with selfsame stroke, a pure

address to shadowed heart

Be wild and high and lion's tooth

and if so bent, invent the truth.
