Donna,
This was indeed a rant, but a very informative and valid rant. I would join
you on H P printers, and avoid the company for anything because of my
experience with them.
About your article, It addresses all of the issues that a blind person faces
in a detailed way and will save many of us a lot of time.
It also touches on the fact that over time, most things have become less
accessible because of the rapid change in technology making it even more
intricate and hard to keep up.
I wonder about the use of Rich's pictures in this article. If the article is
meant for the sighted, they must be lovely. For the blind, what is the
significance? The verbal description of the frog made some sense to me in
terms of the content. I could not make him out visually.
I am wondering if you could write an article more in keeping with your
wonderful time outside, its peace and beauty and restorative qualities, and
have all of those pictures in that article.
It just seems to me that your choice right now is for both the seeing and
blind audience, yet the audience of the writing itself is for the blind who
do not need a screen. Incidentally, this was a wonderful point to make that
most sighted people do not even think about. Surprising that even the
so-called accessible engineers would not have considered it.
Over-all, a wonderful job of writing. And I love rants. Mine are usually
poetic rants that I bury!

As some of you know, I've been seeking advice and info on getting a tablet
or small laptop. After your suggestions, I did some shopping and had an
experience that provoked a blog post out of me. I was going for a
light-hearted piece that would capture the attention of sighted writers and
computer users, but would contain a nugget of truth about what we as people
who access the world nonvisually deal with in the way of accessibility
issues. I'd appreciate it if you would read this and give me feedback about
