This is a well revised version. I agree with Chris that non-blind people may
not get it, but I do not think it's due to the writing not being clear, it
just may be unfamiliar subject matter to some, and that not necessarily your
problem.

This is sort of related, but I once wrote a piece about suicide and
bullying, and used Matthew Shepard and Phoebe Prinze to demonstrate the
potential affects of bullying. Both are well-known young people who had
horrible things happen to them-- Matthew beaten and left tied to a post and
died by homophobes, and Phoebe bullied to the point she took her own life.
Both were in the media and their stories made huge cultural impacts.
Matthew's death happened in the mid-90's, but Phoebe was within the last
decade. Anyway, during a workshop, a girl told me I shouldn't write about
friends if I'm not going to provide details about their life. She had no
clue who either were. Personally, I feel like she should have heard of them
and known something, but ultimately, it was a subject she was not aware of,
but the writing itself was pretty clear, and no one else was confused.

My point being that not everyone will pick up on every subject, but as long
as the writing is clear, that's ultimately what matters.
