[stylist] facebook worries

Hello Writers, As many of you know, I have been out of town and away from
the computer. I returned late Friday and though I had been busy yesterday,
I got started on catching up to my full inboxes. I wanted to read through
all of the emails regarding the facebook issues before responding. I also
did a little research.
I saw there was some concern as to who this person was that had replaced
her banner with that of the page and that some thought her name familiar,
but no one seemed to know who she was.
Laura Minning is a past member of the division and a past editor with Slate
& Style. She was a member of the division at the time the page was created
and so I am guessing that she was a member of the group page as well.
I understand that many of you would not know or remember her, but some of
you, according to federation documents that I found, worked quite closely
with her.
Why am I bringing all of this up? It is simple really. I do not believe it
was done as a malicious act, a hacking, or at all on purpose. Facebook has
been creating problems for many over the years and is not the simple social
network it started out as. I am not bashing facebook either. I am just
pointing out that these things happen. If we want to continue working with
facebook, then we may expect this sort of thing to possibly happen again.
At least the potential is there.
Lynda was right though when she said it is a great way to keep people
informed as to what is going on. And of course there are those who
appreciate the page.
Robert is also right with the advice he was given, that we should scrap the
page and start over. This will be difficult. We will need to be sure to try
and add all those who are on it now and to administer it with some type of
consistency. It is a huge job and should likely have only two or three
administrators at the most. This will ensure the consistency and control
and administrators could be changed; added and subtracted, as needed in the
future.
The question now is who would be willing and able to do such a job? I would
love to hear from those interested and perhaps we could hold a conference
call to iron things out. Perhaps anyone interested, but not knowing if they
are ready for a commitment could join the call and we could discuss the
entire scope of the matter. I do know that some people feel intimidated
about volunteering in front of a crowd, so I am going to ask anyone who has
interest or ideas, to contact me at thirdeyeonlyinaz at gmail.com.
Definately anyone who has facebook knowledge should get involved here as
well, even if you do not wish to be involved in a new page.
I think this is the best process for clearing all of this up. And if we
could get the past administrators to stay involved until we get the new
team off the ground, I would appreciate it. Mainly that is Lynda, Barbara
and Shelly.
Let me know what you all think. I look forward to hearing from you and
setting something up. Thanks for all of your patience here also.
