[stylist] Introduction

My name is Shelly, and I live in North Texas. I live about 2 miles from Oklahoma border in the little town called the Burke Burnett. I am currently self-publishing a novel and it is a lot of work. But we are about to put the print version together so that we know it is done. I have had an amazing team of people working with me to help get it very well prepared and answer a lot of technical questions. I could probably keep extending this but I have to end it somewhere and I'm very close to getting it done. My goal is to have it printed and published by the end of this month. I think that is a very achievable goal. Good luck in your writing endeavors and self-publishing. And freelance writing. That is something I have not been. I've taken other paths in life and have them a lot of writing have done a lot of writing. So, I'm not a big poetry expert but always look forward to reading your writing and welcome to the list.

I am considering career options that I can do from home currently, such as free-lance writing or Braille transcriptions. I have had one article apiece published in the Braille Monitor and Future Reflections, which I am very honored about, especially given all the great writers who have been featured there. I also won first place in the category for childrens' fiction written by adults in the 2014 Writers' Division contest,which I was also thrilled about. I am currently enrolled in a Hadley course on poetry, which I am enjoying. I write in a variety of genres, including personal memoirs, essays, young adult fiction, childrens' fiction, and poetry. I am trying to be more active in the writers' division, though it hasn't worked out for me to attend the phone meetings lately. I'm hoping I can do better about fitting this into my schedule. I look forward to hearing from everyone on the list and sharing ideas about our writing!  Jamie Allison
