Hi Kalley. I'm Shelley in north Texas. I have been publishing work on http://www.storymania.com for eleven years. I've written articles for local newspapers when I organized events in California and we were advertising them. I was a former editor of Slate and Style for a couple of years I am about to publish my first novel, it is in final preparation the most time consuming part right now being editing/proofing. The story has been written for quite some time we've been checking for story inconsistencies or presentation errors. I'm publishing it on http://www.lulu.com, a recommendation received from people who have done that on this list. Lulu offers to do the work for you and charges a hefty ffee for doing it. They do have more than one publishing package for different prices. I've decided to do a great deal of the work myself.

I'm also totally blind. I have a friend in California who designed the cover of the book for me so I'm going to give him the file and have him upload everything since it appears the entire file with the cover needs to be uploaded at once. We will see how long that takes.

My plan is to offer the book in more than one format, producing the print first so I have physical evidence that it is done. Lulu does offer an e-book format.

This is my first full length novel that is being published. I have several more I want to work on but let's get this one first :):. smiley. and, so far this is my experience. Have fun and good luck! I know you'll get advice here especially from fantasy writers.

I have only had short pieces published as of yet, so I have no experience with publishing a full-length manuscript but several Stylist members here do, both traditional publishing and self-publishing.

> Good morning all, I am new to this list. My name is Kaley, I am a senior majoring in literature at the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University, and love writing. Currently, I am working on a young adult's fantasy novel and have written several children's books. I was wondering if any of you had ever published your work before either through a company or by self-publishing through Amazon or a similar site. If so, could you please describe how you went about the process and detail your experience. I look forward to reading about everyone's writing!
