Here is a web site which lists the most popular names for 2001 by state.

You could choose a different year and just look at the southern states

Hello Jennifer,

I am not sure about the guidelines for citations. Are you using MLA or
APA? Or another style guide? The APA style guide answers questions quite
frequently on Twitter. Their websites should include a FAQ or contact form.
They are very difficult to find specific answers online sometimes.

For names - I use "Behind The Name." http://www.behindthename.com/ For
currently popular names, by year, there are different websites. Even social
security site lists them by year or decade.

Good luck,

Um, any names used in America? Just Google.
