Yes, Tolkien was a Anglo-Saxonist and was highly educated in Norse, Germanic
and Celtic literature and mythology. He was incredibly influenced by these
cultures with his writing, not just their literature.

The Lord of the Rings also borrows extensively from celtic and Norse
mythology for people's and names. Heck the Romans borrowed the whole greek
pantheon and just changed their names LOL. Mythology is a great resource.
