Thank you to all who read this story and let me know you enjoyed it.

Chris-thank you for the constructive criticism.  I read a lot with talking books, and that is a double-edged sword.  It increases the number of books I have the patience to read, but it makes spelling a challenge for me.  I will definitely go through and weed out (ahem) the typos from this tale.

Barbara and Shelly-thank you for crossing genre lines into the SciFi zone to read this; your encouragement in this regard is gratifying.

Naima-thank you for chiming in.  You do not need to post, though you are definitely free to do so.  Your words of encouragement are welcome as well.

As for publishing, I suspect I will put this into the Magnets and Ladders contest next spring (I think it kind of a spring seasonal piece anyway); I also question whether the sighted world would be interested in this since it is so blindness specific.
