Thank you for your comment, C hris.
I've really been working to get to this place in my writing. It is through
conversations and research that I have been engaged in that this poem
developed.  I started working on this particular poem about 2 years ago.
Get it out. Think about it. Make a move. Put it away. Leave it be. Get it
out again. Etc. My conversations with several editors  and writers of
American Tanka have given me  new insight in brevity and intention. I call
these ones my "little poems," but they are really "little paintings." Lynda
