Phyllis,
I understand how you are feeling right now. It is a roller coaster kind of
emotion - up and down - and up and down - but don't allow that Inner Critic
to frighten you about the next steps. You are on the way!
When My first box arrived with my new book in February, I opened it
immediately. I was home alone. I reached in and took out the first book,
and the most unexpected emotions flooded through my entire body, mind and
spirit.
I had a melt-down - began weeping - walked with the new book into my
office - sat down and was overcome with deep sorrow, even, utter loneliness.
I know it sounds crazy to have such a deep feeling of loss and sorrow when
I had achieved something I worked on for 7 years. But, this was my gut
response to holding my new book - seeing it as I had envisioned it for so
long. I am not a person who cries much at all. I'm tough and stoic. But the
realization of the actual book in my hands broke through all my defenses. I
was overwhelmed at the beauty of the object in my hands. I felt so humble
because I knew this work was not created by me, alone. I felt the deep
presence of the Holy Spirit at that moment, and it is so overwhelming.
Phyllis, just take it a day at a time. No worries about selling. Your book
will reach the audience it is intended for, no matter what your skills are.
You will have what you need, when you need it. Just as you did when you were
writing and editing your book.
You wrote it in faith, and people who buy your book will be greatly blessed
by it. You will stand in amazement at the places your book, and you, will go
from this point forward.
The audience that is meant to read your book, will find it and you will be
hearing from them. Almost every day, I received a note from someone who has
bought and read my book, and it is precious to get the personal messages.
The other thing is that your book is out in time for gifting purposes with
the upcoming holidays just around the corner. There are opportunities that
will be available for you in your area for sharing your book. People will
come to YOU with information and help to get your book out to the public. It
just happens. You have every reason to be celebrating right now. You go,
Girl! You are well established as an author, and you have so much respect
for your long track record. You are a Pro.

Lynda, thank you. One minute I'm delighted, and the next I wonder if
I've temporarily lost my sense of reasoning, but it's done, and now
comes the hard part for me, the publicity. Trust me I couldn't sell a
blanket to a freezing Eskimo.
