Lynda
I have just read the memoir of Amy, "The Sweet Breath of Africa." I can
hardly tell you how much it meant to me. As you know I am working on my own
memoir of my five years in Africa, to the exclusion of almost everything
else.
she is a good writer, and brings to life the humanity, the wildlife, the
gorgeous foliage, and so much more.
For me, the experience of writing in depth of my own five years has given me
a life come alive from fifty years ago.
How I want to return. Right now, I am experiencing climbing the "Mountains
of the Moon," the Ruwenzories, once again.
Also, your article of the history of your western Pennsylvania truly gives a
detailed and intimate account of what they area means to you.
Such good writing.
I am unsure of the proper addresses since I think there has been a change.
If this reaches you, please pass my comments on to Amy, and Magnets and
Ladders. I learned so much more about it this time.

Saturday greetings and a blog feature you may enjoy today, from Lynda

Saturday morning is particularly important because this is the day I publish
a spotlight on a Guest Author on my blog, SCAN.

I see that some of the NFB Writers Division members are also contributors to
the Magnets & Ladders literary magazine. It is good to see you there in the
bi-annual issues. Did you know you can get a professionally recorded
cassette of each issue? Yes, and it is so amazing to hear your work read by
a professional - I always feel like."Is that MY work I am listening to?" It
is always a treat to hear another person read your stories and poems, isn't
it! The cassette is created by Perkins Library, and if you contact them you
can subscribe and get the cassettes free each time they are published. You
can listen on your NLS player.

I've been reading the Spring/Summer issue of Magnets & Ladders this week.
By reading, I mean that I am listening to the recording of that magazine on
the Perkins Cassette that arrived recently. I am now on my 2nd read-through
of the stories & poems featured in the magazine. What a delightful time I am
having - I am listening intently and making new discoveries of the talented
writers. One story, "The Sweet Breath of Africa," is by Amy Bovaird. It won
an Honorable Mention in the contest. This story is so well written it is
like listening to a symphony - the imagery and words are woven together
masterfully. I am happy to say that Amy is my Guest Author today on the
Blog, SCAN.

You can read Amy's interview on SCAN at :
https://llambert363.blog/2018/08/25/saturday-is-for-sharing-amy-bovaird/

It exceeds our word count limit - but if you need for me to send you a
personal copy of her interview, I am happy to do that for you.

Just E-mail me and I will send it to you privately.

I'll be working in my Magical Garden most of today - this is what I do
in-between writing or creating art. My Magical Garden is about 60 feet long
- a space I have developed this summer that consists of beautiful plants
and flowers - and pulling weeds is now my preoccupation most days. Today,
I'll be wielding my new gardening tool - a turf edger - all around the
sidewalks to create an edge that really makes it look great. Summer is
nearing to its end, and I want to enjoy every moment I can, outside with
Nature, my Muse. Besides, it is a great way to exercise.

Happy summer days to you today.
