Funny sentense to correct, but nice editing.

Chris,
I do not think I ever answered this. I got a huge kick out of your example.
I always knew you were a genius!
At any rate, thank you for confirming that I am not an idiot for not being able to traverse the Review mode. I will try Bridgit's suggestion about Comments before trying your suggestion. My book has to be cut from over 700 pages, and it will be very extensive. I must do what is the most speedy and most understandable to my editor.

Hi Jackie Lee,

Obviously you aren't alone in not reading it. No worries.

Sorry, but I can't help you with that. In the past people have critiqued my work using the review/revise stuff in Microsoft word, and it's been useless to me. Others may know how to manage it, but I don't.
In the group I belong to, the general critiquing method is the same as I do when I critique in this group. We cut and paste the sentence or section that needs revision into a new document (for instance, November critiques) then use a dash and detail the change that needs to be made. This seems to work well for everyone, and not just me.

For example:

Trump's public shaming of a rape victim is noting short of reprehensible.
But then again, what can you expect from a president with the moral compass equivalent of a bucket of terds? - noting should be 'nothing' and terd is spelled with a u, 't u r d'

Hope that helps.

Chris

Chris,
I have not read your piece yet. I have saved it and I will get to it.
I have questions. Do all in your critique group use the Review mode to make their comments? I have been working with an editor who wants me to use it, and even my teacher from the Center for the Blind could not figure it all out. He does not know the JAWS quick keys.
Do you by chance have all of the directions for using that mode?
This is one reason I find it almost impossible to critique the long stories that sometimes appear on this list.
I do recall your time-consuming responses to some where you do give specific suggestions without using that mode.
Thanks for any help you can offer

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for reading and commenting on my excerpted chapter.

I've belonged to an online critique group for about 16 years now. There are between 6 and 8 of us (people sometimes come and go) and we submit a chapter or short story or essay every 6 weeks, and everybody in the group sends back their comments and suggestions.Only one member has been traditionally published, and in my opinion she's not the best writer and certainly not the best critique. But everybody brings a different perspective and we all help each other. And as a side note, one of our members lives in Indiana, I've never met him, but watched him on Jeopardy! Last june when he won 3 nights in a row and got $80,000!

I think you can post anything for a critique here, or ask any questions you like. Just don't expect an overwhelming response. More people ask for help here than give it.

Chris
