Hello Writers, You may be wondering about the NFB Writers’ guidelines. Since my first involvement with the NFB Writers’ Division back in the 1993 or 1994 convention, and my first entries into their contests, my experience with the guidelines is they have always clearly stated that the yearly writing contest was open to blind and sighted writers. At no time in the past twenty-two years or so have any of the contests been limited to blind participants or subjects surrounding blindness. The Writers’ Division is open to writing and writing covers all subjects. We do not limit our stories, poems, or contest subjects to what it means to be blind or how people accomplish tasks as blind people. While these may be worthwhile subjects, certainly all subjects are accepted as long as the writing style is clear, and good grammar is used, and we can enjoy whatever subject you wish to write about as well-informed people who possess the gifts of reading or writing. Good luck in all your work and we look forward to receiving your excellent entries this year. Carry on! Keep dreaming and writing! In this. Seeming age of division ad polarization let’s agree that good writing is never out of fashion.
