Bridgit,
I thought I remembered that you did plays in the past. There is nothing I
enjoy more than live theatre.
Well, maybe I'd say I like contemporary dance performance as much or more,
too.
I like the experimental stuff - cutting edge - things still in development
sometimes.
I also love the voice actors who record the books we all enjoy.
It is all just wonderful, isn't it.

My little 9-year old great-granddaughter has been in the past 3 years of
musicals performed by the senior high school in our town. But, we have know
since her birth she is an actor. She is always "on." In august I took her
family to New York City for a few days - we saw "Frozen" on Broadway. They
were so thrilled. We did it at night, so they got to be in the crowds who
are pouring out of the theatres when the plays end. I cannot see the
actors, but I sure enjoyed the music and acting.

Lynda,

Do you mean the spelling of "playwright?" Yep, you spelled it correctly,
grin.

I've written one act plays and sketches in the past that have been
performed. It's a fun experience. A couple I performed myself, smile.

A playwright friend of mine is prolific, and many of her plays are produced
locally and out-of-state. When she's workshopping a new play, I'm usually
one of the people she asks to be involved. Playwrighting workshops are very
similar to writing workshops, but everyone involved has a character/role and
acts out the play while sitting around a table. Afterwards, we provide
feedback. Anyway, she and I are working on a musical idea I have, and also
turning one of my essays into a play. It's fun, and we will see what comes
of these projects, wink.

All good things to do to get those creative juices flowing.
I've never even dreamed of writing a play - but I love plays and the
theatre.
When I did a fellowship at Hambidge Center for the Arts many years ago - a
playwright (not sure of spelling) was there in residence with me.
We had great conversations over dinner - when we all came from our studios
to have dinner together in the evening.
She lived in NYC, and did stand-up comedy as well. Do you foresee that one
of your plays will be performed on a stage?
Or, even more of them?
As a painter we work in seclusion, and once we have created a body of work,
we put the work on gallery walls - attend the openings and have lots of fun
- then back to seclusion to do more work.

I have been writing a lot of plays, for class and for fun. I also tried an
exercise, inspired by "free-writing" in one of my classes, where I'd write
for a very very short amount of time, but continue on writing non-stop,
letting thoughts to the story flow as I'm quickly writing. My first time
doing this, the results were quite entertaining!
