Hi Vejas and all,

Yes, hitting the water hurts or stings when it isn’t planned. I hit the water pretty hard but not enough to knock the wind from me, thanks to the floatation belt. My legs stung from it a little.

Hi Chris,

Does it hurt when you fall in the water?

One thing I like about surfing, as opposed to snow skiing which I have also done, is that you just land in the water without rolling down some random hill. I know the water can cushion your fall but it depends how hard you hit it!

Hey Ann,

Nice job. Water skiing is much more difficult than most people think, especially when they watch people who know how to do it skiing so gracefully. I tried twice when I was sighted, and couldn’t get up. After I went blind, a friend invited me to a clinic for blind and disabled skiers, and with instruction I was able to do it and it was a blast. We were in fresh water, though.

One question—I don’t really get the ‘misconnection’ theme in your piece. Admittedly, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but did I miss something?

Chris
