[Stylist] Spelling and Grammar Question

Bridgit!  Are you saying that I put punctuation marks in  the wrong places?  I am always willing to 
learn, so if that is what you are saying, would you be kind enough to give one, or more, examples 
and indicate where you think that I am wrong?
I disagree with you when you say that when one learned the rules of forming a sentence doesn't  make
any difference.  These days, it is not uncommon to read an entire paragraph and the only punctuation 
is the fullstop!
maybe a slight  exaggeration but I am sure that you know what I mean!

But you have to use commas and punctuation properly. It's not something you
can place wherever you want. For the most part, when it comes to grammar and
punctuation, the same rules apply across all English speaking countries. So,
it's not so much about where you go to school. And trust me, editors and
publisher's will care greatly about this.

Punctuation etc is, very much, dkictated by when, and where,  the writer
went to school.  In Jackie's reply to my last communication, she:  I think
that Jackie is a she, and I offer my abject apologies if I am wrong:  said
that she thought that I could cut down on commas and exclamation marks!
Sorry Jackie!  as you can see, that ain't gunna happen:  now or later!

Hi everyone,
I was just asked by a friend to proofread a small piece they wrote and are
hoping to submit to a magazine. They admitted that spelling and grammar are
not their strong-point.
I think it's admirable to recognize this, but I'm not really sure what the
best approach would be from here. It needs a lot of work, and essentially
needs to be re-written. I don't want to re-write it, as that would seem very
patronizing. At the same time I feel that if I were to point out every
single error, it could be too overwhelming. This is the second time I was
given the article to look
at: the first time I just mentioned that they needed to check spelling and
grammar, but maybe I was being too vague because people aren't always sure
what to do?
I'd really appreciate any thoughts. The message behind the article is great
and I really feel that if it were phrased correctly, it would do very well.
