Hi all-
Some tips for you for global accessibility awareness day:
Using Zoom as a participant.
Stay muted unless intending to speak. Do not announce yourself when entering a meeting already in progress. Be sure you're in a quiet area with minimal external sound around you. If using the computer, use a headset. do not unmute while on speaker.
When a meeting is being recorded participants will most likely be asked to tab or shift/tab to the “Got It” button. Participants will not be able to unmute until this has been done. Tip: sometimes one must log out of the meeting and come back in to toggle the “Got It” button, this is a known bug in Zoom meetings for assistive technology users.
Muting is a toggle. So you can use the same command to unmute:. From your PC: alt-a. From the Mac: command-shift-a. From the app: button in the lower left-hand corner. From the phone: star-6. To raise your hand: From the PC: alt-y. From the Mac: option-y. >From the app: access the "more" button on the lower right corner and the raise hand feature appears. From the phone: star-9.
When in Webinar:. Everyone automatically comes into the call muted. You cannot unmute or mute until the host gives you permission to talk. The "unmute" button appears only when permission is granted by the host for you to talk. If connecting to the call via the app or computer, you will be asked to unmute yourself once permission has been granted by the host. If connecting via phone, you will automatically be unmuted once permission has been granted by the host.
>From the app, the raise hand feature is on the main screen which is unique to Webinar.
