Hello Writers,

Welcome to our final Writers Division meeting of 2023 held Sunday, October 22 at 7 PM Eastern, 6 PM central, 5 PM mountain, 4 PM Pacific. We will discuss the book club selection which was chosen several months ago. Our final meeting will have our usual updates and any project updates that you have plus the discussion of this book. Should you except your mission to read it, I think you will enjoy it. The book was a Newbery Medal winner in 1932. It is written by Elizabeth foreman Lewis, and the title is Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze. This is the skillfully written story of a young boy growing up in 1920s China in the midst of the cultural revolution. It is a commingling of two cultures, their acceptance and rejection, especially dealing with the older peasants and some of the younger ones too. If you choose to do the audio book, the narrator is Ed Blake, and he does an excellent job. The book number for the audio recording from bard is DB23364. The book is approximately six hours and 23 minutes in length. It is compact and if you can find six or seven hours in your busy schedules between now and Sunday I know you will enjoy it.
