Join Behind Our Eyes for  the May 2024 book launch with author Debra A.K.
Thompson on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m via Zoom. eastern time.

Ms. Debra A. K. Thompson is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida and she
currently resides in the Tampa Bay area. She and her husband James were
married for over 45 years before his recent passing in 2021. They raised 3
sons together and she is the proud grandmother of 5 as well as a great
grandmother of 3. 

While living in Pensacola, Florida for over 30 years, Debra spent 20 years
as the founder and coordinator of the Gospel Songwriters Music Workshop
which was an annual conference for aspiring and veteran songwriters.
Additionally, she worked as the editor and publisher of a Christian
publication for approximately 5 years called Gospel Express Magazine. When
she returned to the Tampa Bay area in 2010, she then started writing feature
articles for two local magazines called, The Church Bulletin and Flavour
Magazine respectively.

Currently, Debra is a freelance writer and she spends most of her time
writing poetry, short stories and articles on numerous topics of interest
for publication. In 2021, Debra had one of her poems, I Never Thought,
published in the 2021 Poetry Marathon Anthology which features poems from
veteran and emerging poets from various parts of the world. She also had one
of her short stories, Three Women on the Road, published in the 2022
anthology, A New Renaissance, A Celebration of African American Fiction as
well. She has also received many positive accolades from her community for
her first and second books, Enlightenment-Looking Back to Move Forward and
Enlightenment II, Building Self Esteem Through Poems & Positive
Affirmations.

Debra has now ventured into writing children's books that encourage
financial literacy for children of all ages. She knows building wealth and
understanding the value of money can never start too early. Her most recent
book Dollars With Sins is a continuation of her quest to educate young
people about the importance of saving and investing their money wisely. This
is the third book in her series  and is a great addition to her first two
children's books Pennies Make Dollars and Baby Sue Learns to Count. She
recently won an award for the best interview for her book Baby Sue Learns To
Count from the Black Authors Matter TV, May 2024.
