Greetings from the Writers' Division,

This notice goes out to all of you who consider yourself members or have considered yourself members of the division over the last few years. This also applies to those who wish to become members of the division. At our March board meeting we changed our policy to align with that of the national office. We have been accepting of a July date for dues which extends to July of the next year. As you know, the National Federation of the Blind national leadership asked all division members to begin paying dues in January of each year. We have for the last two years allowed members to acclimate themselves to this change. Beginning with those who paid dues in July 2024 and extending beyond, dues will now be due in January of each year starting with 2025. If you paid in July 2024 your dues are covered till December 31 2024. Those who paid in July are now considered lapsed members until May 1 2025 when your membership will fall off. Dues for 2025 must be paid by May 1. This will cover your membership till December 31, 2025. This is especially important because in July of 2025 we will hold elections in New Orleans for the next slate of officers. If you are not a paid member by May 1 2025 you will be unable to vote in the July election or run for office. Beginning in January 2026 dues for 2026 will be due.

In order to pay dues for 2024, go to writers.nfb.org and scroll to the PayPal link. There, you can make your payment of $10. It will be counted as dues even though the site says your payment is a donation. We will acknowledge receipt of your payment.

Thank you for understanding. When you pay dues you will receive division updates and our quarterly magazine Slate and Style.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Write On!
