She was the author of many collections, including Poems: North & South—A Cold Spring (Houghton Mifflin, 1955) and The Complete Poems (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1969), winners of the 1956 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and the 1970 National Book Award in Poetry, respectively.
