Dear TNABA Members and Friends,****

The Tennessee Association of Blind Athletes (TNABA) is happy to announce
our 2013 adaptive sports conference scheduled for October 4th and 5th at
the TN School for the Blind. The fourth annual event is certainly going to
be one of the most exciting conferences we have hosted so far. Many of our
conference events are tailored for you to enjoy different activities and to
have the opportunity to experience sessions that provide information to
better your health, with resources to encourage your continuing quest to
regain your independence through adaptive sports. We have made special
arrangements to help you enjoy this weekend full of fun and are introducing
a few new changes to the conference. The rest of this letter will tell you
in more detail about the schedule and the importance of your involvement in
this year’s event.****

*Conference Registration and Continental** **Breakfast*****

        On Saturday October, 5th registration for the conference will start
at 7:30am with a continental breakfast being served. Registration will take
place in the blue roof lobby and will conclude at 8:30am. Even if you
pre-register you must still check in at the registration table. Do not
forget to pick up your complementary goody bag. ****

*Conference Overview*****

        This year’s conference is better than ever before, as we have
increased to 6 different breakout sessions to give you more opportunities
to experience over 15 wonderful activities that you can choose from
throughout the day.  Sessions will include; tandem cycling, bowling,
archery, goalball, run/walk with a guide, ballroom dancing, exercise and
fitness classes,  water aerobics, nutrition classes and many more
activities. ****

During lunch former NFL San Francisco 49er defensive nose tackle Will Santi
will speak on his experiences in sports and working with adaptive athletes
through the Achilles Nashville Run, Walk, Roll program. Another special
guest speaker for the day will be David Metter, National Blind Golf
Champion, as he talks about his experiences as a blind golfer.****

more sessions will be added in the weeks to come. ****

*TNABA Sports Banquet *****

        Join us Saturday evening from 6pm to 8:30pm as we celebrate the
accomplishments of our athletes, guides, captains, volunteers, sponsors,
and friends from the last year. We will also be honoring the life time
achievements’ of Frank Alexander, former mobility instructor, US Paralympic
wrestling coach, and Tennessee School for the Blind athletic director.
Frank will speak about his experiences with adaptive sports in the
Paralympics. ****

Tickets to the banquet will be $30 per person and can be purchased online
when you register or during registration on Saturday. We hope you will join
us for this celebratory event.****

NOTE: The banquet is a business casual dress. If you are not planning on
staying over but need a place to change there will be one provided for your
convenience. ****

*Overnight Accommodations* ****

        The TN School for the Blind has been extremely generous in allowing
conference guests to stay on campus Friday and Saturday night. There will
be a ****

$10 per night per person fee that can be paid during the registration
process online or once you arrive. This fee is to cover Breakfast and
refreshments during your stay. Friday night guests can check in from 4:30pm
to 7pm. Saturday night guests will check in during morning registration.
Check out will be Sunday morning no later than 10is. ****

If you prefer there are hotels very close to the school on Stewarts Ferry
Pike, next to the interstate. Feel free to make your own arrangements
through them. Please remember you will be responsible for your own
transportation in town and any hotel costs. ****

*Conference Registration *****

        You can register for the conference on our website @www.tnaba.org.
All TNABA members and those with a visual disability will be admitted to
the conference for FREE, all other attendees can register for just $25 by
September 25 and $30 after the deadline. Registration fee includes; access
to all conference activities, lunch, and goody bag filled with all kinds of
goodies and informational materials.  If you are a veteran there may be
funding for your registration and overnight accommodations. Also, funding
may be available to others as well. if you need assistance with any cost,

TNABA has applied to offer this conference for AER certification CEU
credits. Certificates of attendance can be provided by request.   ****

        This weekend is sure to be an exciting adventure for you and your
family, friends and our entire TN community. We hope you will attend this
year’s conference and experience all the joys and benefits of adaptive
sports and recreation. Whether you are; a person with vision loss, a
physical education teacher, a physical or occupational therapist,
rehabilitation counselor, or a person curious about how to help a person
with a visual disability to live a fulfilling productive life, this hands
on conference has a little something for everyone. We hope you will join
together with TNABA as we strive more and more every day to live life
through adventure.****
