Good Morning National federation of the Blind of Iowa members and friends:

Before you read the below note from Kim Barber, I wanted to share a little background since I don’t think my previous update made it through. Last week, Michael Barber fell and had to have hip surgery. There were some complications as a result. Kim’s note below shares with us that this morning, Michael passed away. Funeral arrangements are pending. As I get more, I will pass it along. The National Federation of the Blind of Iowa sends condolences to Michael’s family, especially to Kim during this difficult time. We in the National federation of the Blind of Iowa and around the country morn the loss of a beloved Federationist, a truly passionate advocate for the blind of this nation, and a wonderful man. We are all better for knowing him! It is difficult to put into words my own feelings at this moment, so I won’t even do it now. We will all miss you Michael, and we know you are now watching over all of us as we go build the National Federation of the Blind!

Hello friends: An update to share that my beloved husband passed away early this morning as I sat by his bedside. This is all to much for me right at this moment but what I want you all to know is he was passionate about serving Blind Iowans and the Federation. He believed in collaboration and getting the work done to improve the lives of blind Iowans of all ages and he now looks to to carry that Baton. Finally, funeral arrangements must be made yet so I will get that info to you when all is finalized. I will keep everyone posted. Kim
