[Tall-Corn] Sad news from the National Federation of the Blind of Iowa

I would just have to say that this is sad news indeed, though Joe has suffered a long time. He was selfless in his work for the cause of blind people in this state. He trained a lot of Randolph Shepherd Venders, and many of them maintained Joe’s high standards of business. He was a tough teacher, but he was kind and compassionate as well.
Joe always was interested to hear what the struggles were of blind persons beyond the Randolph Shepherd Program. He cared; he went to bat for people.
He was a fighter in the legislative arena, too, fostering friendships with many a legislature. He used those friendships not only to help other blind people, they were sincere lasting ones.
We will all truly miss Joe, and we pray deeply for comfort for Lora and the rest of the family.

Services will be held in Des Moines on April 15, 2023, and we will share full details for those later. For now, let’s keep his wife Laura, and the rest of his family in our thoughts and prayers. Blind people are undoubtedly in a much better place in Iowa because of Joe’s work and we are forever grateful.
