Hi folks, Please share this with anyone who cares about IDB and might want to be part of this event; including your friends in ICUB and who aren’t in a consumer group. We as an affiliate are putting this together, but we want all those who share common cause to feel welcome.

Below are the links for the main info page and registration form for the IDB Director Protest at 10:00 a.m. on September 16th. We will be marching together for 1 1/2 hours and then attending the Iowa Commission for the Blind Board meeting at noon. We would like to have as many folks as possible for the protest and also sending letters to the Commissioners before hand and giving public comment at the meeting. If you would like to send an email or make comments and writing or speaking is not your thing, we are here to help. Please reach out to me and I can help you draft or send you talking points or do whatever I can to help you feel more comfortable writing or speaking. Your voice and presence is important and will make a big difference. If you received training at the IDB center or structured discovery training elsewhere and it change your life for the better, it’s time to help ensure blind Iowans in the present and future get this same opportunity. The Iowa Model has been the cornerstone and linchpin of the services IDB offers and without it, the agency loses its uniqueness and becomes an easy target for dismantlement by the Governor’s office or the Iowa DOGE Commission During the next legislative session. If you have never had the chance to be a part of a Federation protest, you won’t want to miss this. Not only do you get to make a difference, but it is lots of fun. Don’t worry if you don’t think you can march for that long or need other accommodations. We are going to make sure everyone who wants to can
participate. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the committee including Sharon omvig, Elizabeth Rouse, Roger Erpelding, and President Mejia It’s a truly ad-hoc committee due to the need for urgency. It’s only a little over 2 weeks away, so please make plans now to attend. Thanks muchh! .
