Greetings, We received word today that Ron Greene passed away
after a long illness. For the last 25 years or so Ron has lived in
Des Moines and was an active member of the Des Moines Chapter a
good bit of that time. Before that he lived in Boone where he
served as president of the Central Iowa Chapter of the NFBI for
several years, and served on the Board Of Directors of the NFBI
from the early eighties until the mid-nineties. Some of you have
heard stories about the times that the NFBI had a float in the
Puffer Billy Day parades in Boone. Ron arranged for the float and
did most of the decorating of it for the years that we did that.
He also was one of the main people to handle the booth at the Iowa
State Fair from the early eighties until the late nineties.
He will be missed by those of us who knew him and worked with him.
It is because of the many hours of service and the great amount of
caring of people like Ron that we have the affiliate that we do
today.
I am proud to say that Ron and I were close friends from the late
fifties when he graduated from IBSSS until his death today.
Bob Ray
