I am saddened to hear of Tom's death, yet I know he was prepared to live
with his God. I read April's article, and it was a lovely tribute to the
man. He was a fighter, and he bravely went through the cancer, facing each
challenge as it came along.

I first knew Tom when I went to the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School. On
Saturday nights, maybe once a month, we had dance club. I had always been a
wall flower, was never much of a dancer, but Tom asked me to dance at the
first dance club I went to. We struck up a lovely conversation. He was so
very friendly. The more mature Cindy understands and appreciates Tom the
more for it.

Later, Tom and I had a misunderstanding in the Des Moines Chapter and he
dropped out. Eventually, I sent him a message on Facebook about something.
He called me, and he said that life was too short for us to not forgive one
another, or words to that effect. He was a good man to have done that, and I
think, though I didn't get to talk with him much, that our friendship was
once again intact.

Tom had a lovely full life, and he will be missed.

Loving God, we thank you for Tom Davis' life. Hold his family close and
guide them through this hard time. Help them and us all remember that God,
however we celebrate that God, loves us all and protects us. We give thanks
that Tom no longer will suffer, and we pray that you, dear God, will help
all who grieve Tom through this time. Amen.

Cindy Lou Ray
