Good Afternoon NFBI,

Please see the below opportunity. One of the pieces of the application involves obtaining the support of two affiliate presidents. I am excited to support members. Because I can only sponsor two individuals, if you would like my support with your application, please contact me no later than June 30.

Seeking Future Blind Leaders

The National Federation of the Blind is seeking the next generation of blind leaders to join the Kenneth Jernigan Leadership-In-Service Program. This intensive training opportunity is designed to empower you to become a strong leader and advocate in the organized blind movement.

Over one year, participants will engage in immersive in-person workshops, virtual learning modules, and receive personalized mentoring. You will utilize these skills and apply them to hands-on leadership opportunities within the organization.

Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:

Be able to commit to virtual and in-person sessions (travel and lodging will be provided).
Have a fundamental understanding of the National Federation of the Blind.
Have attended at least one national convention.
Have attended one or more state affiliate conventions.
Ideally serve, or have served, in an elected position in a chapter, affiliate, or division.
Complete assignments between sessions and provide feedback through surveys.
If you are committed to making a difference and leading with conviction, we encourage you to visit the Kenneth Jernigan Leadership-In-Service Program <https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=39269&qid=11402057> webpage to learn how to apply. Deadline to apply is July 20, 2025.

Thank you for your commitment to advance the lives of our members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
