Elizabeth:

The committee that has most appeal to me is legislative, but I think the timing is totally off for me. I expect the local legislative organizing will be taking place in early January, but that is the very time that I will be almost totally unavailable. From 28 December to 18 January I will have rehearsals every day for the Cedar Rapids Opera’s performances of Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus. Combine that with my other everyday responsibilities and I will have no time for any legislative committee responsibilities. If I am wrong about the schedule and scope of legislative committee, please consider me for that role.

Subject: [Tall-Corn] Get Involved-Join an NFBI Committee!

Dear Federation family,

I hope you are all catching up on rest after our busy and productive 99th annual State Convention.

As we continue building a stronger and more connected movement here in Iowa, we’re inviting you to get involved by serving on one (or more!) of our dynamic committees! Remember that your time, ideas, and energy help shape the future of our organization, and this is a great way to make your voice heard.

We’re currently seeking members interested in serving on any of the following committees:

*	Youth Activities – Inspiring and empowering the next generation of blind youth.
*	Legislative – Advocating for equality and opportunity through our state and national policy efforts.
*	Convention Planning – Helping organize and enhance our annual state convention experience.
*	Membership – Welcoming new members and strengthening connections across our chapters.
*	Fundraising – Supporting our programs and events through creative fundraising initiatives.

If you’d like to be part of any of these committees, please send an email expressing your interest to Elizabethrouse.nfb at gmail.com <mailto:Elizabethrouse.nfb at gmail.com> by end-of-day Friday, October 31. Even if you’re not sure where you’d fit best, we’ll be happy to help you find the right spot!

Together, we can continue to build the National Federation of the Blind of Iowa into an even more vibrant and effective organization. Thank you for all you do to move our mission forward!

With appreciation,
Elizabeth
