Greetings colleagues,
I sent this email to the three people on the sbucommittee yesterday afternoon. So far Representative Young has responded that he is supportive, but then we already knew that.
As for the other two, I hope they actually read it and will support it.
Here is the note I sent them minus the personal salutation and my contact info.
Since you are holding a hearing regarding this bill on Wednesday,
January 28 I am writing you to ask that you support this legislation and
advocate for its passage by the legislature.
I am a blind Iowan. For most of my seven decades of life there weren't
good tools and techniques for labeling our prescription medicines so
that we could discern what they were when we took them home from the
pharmacy without reliance on the assistance of a sighted person.
Many of us don't just live independently but live in situations where
there is no regular presence of a sighted individual that we might wish
to trust with the handling of our prescription drugs or with our medical
information. This bill ensures that we as blind Iowans can depend on
our medicines being properly labeled so we can determine what they are
whenwe leave the pharmacy, and not have to compromise our independence or
our privacy to be able to safely use them to maintain our health.
So, again I ask that you support hf2033.
Thank you,
Regards,
Richard
