Hello all,
I am finding it quite sad how we are discussing her leaving. While we all didn't agree on things she did and positions that she took we should not be talking smack about her. If anything, we should be wishing her all the best and hoping that she finds a place where her talents will be appreciated more. She is a blind person and if we are truly advocating for blind people, we should be hoping for the best for all of them.

Federation Family,

 

Director Cervenka resigned her position effective today. 

We will continue to work with the Commission board and department leadership as appropriate to support the department in providing the best possible services for blind Iowans.

I'm assuming that there will be no effort to fill the position until after the election, and we will advocate for a new director with the strong blindness philosophy and leadership strengths the department needs.
