I don’t feel that this place is a place to get into Stacy’s merits, or to argue whether she was good or whether she was not. She was not really a good fit for the Iowa Department for the Blind, not at least from my particular standpoint, but I sincerely hope and pray that she is going to be in a position with whom she can really shine. I hope someone will decide we should not discuss the merits or lack of merits that Stacy had and help us see that our energy should be put forward to help find the person whom we feel is a better fit.
Cindy

This is why people hate the NFB so much. You don't know what you had in Stacy as a director. Good Britain's to Iowa, she no longer has to deal with your BS. She expanded the training and services more than anyone has done in decades. And if you can't recognize and acknowledge this, you're more blind than you realize.

Hello all,
I am finding it quite sad how we are discussing her leaving. While we all didn't agree on things she did and positions that she took we should not be talking smack about her. If anything, we should be wishing her all the best and hoping that she finds a place where her talents will be appreciated more. She is a blind person and if we are truly advocating for blind people, we should be hoping for the best for all of them.
Thank you so much for your time in reading this.

Great news! I hope that, in the future, the governor seeks input from blind Iowans when appointing a new director.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out, Stacey.

Thank you for this Madam president. I hope that the NFBI and other well meaning organizations will help the IDB chart a course that would lead towards a more purposeful department.

Federation Family,
Director Cervenka resigned her position effective today.
We will continue to work with the Commission board and department leadership as appropriate to support the department in providing the best possible services for blind Iowans.
I'm assuming that there will be no effort to fill the position until after the election, and we will advocate for a new director with the strong blindness philosophy and leadership strengths the department needs.
