Dear Federation Family and Friends,
As many of you know, our dear friend and longtime Federationist Barbara Loos was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last January, which has since spread to her liver. Barbara has now stopped chemotherapy treatments and is spending this time surrounded by those she loves.
For more than half a century, Barbara has been an important part of the National Federation of the Blind and has touched the lives of countless people along the way. We would like to give some of that love back to her by creating a collection of recorded memories and messages from the many people whose lives she has touched.
We are calling this project “With Love for Barbara: Memories and Messages.”
We invite you to record a message of approximately three minutes or less for Barbara. You might share a favorite memory, a funny story, something Barbara has taught you, what her friendship has meant to you, or simply a personal message you would like her to hear.
Please begin your recording by saying your name so Barbara and her family will know who is speaking.
You can participate in either of the following ways:
Record your message using the Voice Memos app on your iPhone or another recording method and email the recording to info at ne.nfb.org <mailto:info at ne.nfb.org>.
Or, call 402-477-7711 and leave your message as a voicemail.
Please submit your recording no later than October 5.
Our hope is to bring these recordings together into a special collection that Barbara, her husband Brad, and their family can listen to and enjoy. Most importantly, we want Barbara to hear from the people whose lives she has touched and to know just how deeply she is loved.
Please share this message far and wide with Federation members, former members, friends, and anyone else who has known Barbara over the years. We hope to include as many voices as possible.
