Thinking about summer reminds me that our national convention is less than two months away! As I am sure you are aware, the National Federation of the Blind of Iowa is co-hosting this year's convention with the Virginia and Florida affiliates. It is my hope and goal that we will have many members from Iowa in attendance this year. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I am pleased to announce that the Iowa affiliate is able to assist financially for those who are wishing to attend but whose finances may need some help.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>To apply for financial assistance, please email me with your request for funding no later than May 16. You will find out if you receive funding by May 18th. I will follow up with a phone call to discuss your individual needs. We cannot fully fund anyone who is attending the convention, but we are happy to assist in any way that we can to help get you to the convention. We ask that if you apply for funding you agree to complete the following: <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>1. Attend the entire convention July 3 through 8 including the banquet. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>2. Register for the convention. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>3. Attend all 3 days of General Sessions.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>4. Volunteer for 5 or more hours at one of the following: 2 hour shift at our exhibit table in the exhibit hall, 3 hours between hospitality suite, information table, and at the special event Friday, July 6th.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>5.
