<div dir="auto">It is disheartening reading the responses after Stacy's resignation. I wish that the blindness community could be better in Iowa. It feels so toxic and judgmental. If you don't do things exactly as people expect, you are ousted from it. We all live different lives and deserve to do things in ways that we see fit. The department should reflect this as well. People should have choice and flexibility in the services received. I'm grateful for the work that Stacy has done to support blind Iowans and I'm hopeful that the governor will pick a director that is interested in supporting all blind Iowans.</div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Sep 16, 2026, 6:25\u202fPM Helen Mejia via Tall-Corn <<a href="mailto:tall-corn@nfbnet.org">tall-corn@nfbnet.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="line-break:after-white-space">Federation Family,<div><br></div><div>Director Cervenka resigned her position effective today. </div><div>We will continue to work with the Commission board and department leadership as appropriate to support the department in providing the best possible services for blind Iowans.</div><div><div>I\u2019m assuming that there will be no effort to fill the position until after the election, and we will advocate for a new director with the strong blindness philosophy and leadership strengths the department needs.</div><div><br></div><div>Helen</div><div>
