Since the materials are free, I don't believe there's any competition
involved. I merely posted the materials to help those who may benefit from
the experience I've gained over ten years of certifying Access Technology
Trainers.
I've never seen myself or those I train in competition with anyone in this
industry. In fact, that's something I stress to my trainers in my
certification course. There are too many individuals needing training to
worry about personal gain or reputation. We can all learn from one another
and help one another succeed. If I worry about competition, I lose focus on
the goal of improving computer training as a whole for blind consumers. I'm
willing to help anyone who shares that goal.
Whether others use the materials I offer in this handbook is purely their
choice. I don't offer it as the absolute guide to hiring and evaluating
trainers. I offer it as a solid solution to a problem I know exists in many
organizations around the world.
David, thank you for your support of my efforts in making these materials
available. I hope you find them useful and, if I can be of any assistance,
I hope you'll contact me. I strongly believe every student should have the
best opportunity to succeed and having a qualified trainer is fundamental to
a student's success.
Jonathan is right that on Friday I was charging for the materials but after
thinking it over on Saturday, I opted to provide the materials free of
charge. I felt the ultimate goal of reaching administrators in organizations
large and small was more important than charging for the handbook.
