Freedom Scientific has a daisy book on Vista. I would consider going through it & naking the recommended changes. The Office 2007 tutorial works well withh Office 2010.

Jim,
While there are always minor tweeks that you could do to improve 
accessibility JAWS should work well with Windows 7 out of the box.
First, while Windows 7 is not the same as Windows Vista the two 
operating systems are similar from the perspective of the user.  What I 
often do to improve accessibility in listviews is to set the view to 
either List or Details and then tell Windows to keep this setting for 
all folders.  This is pretty much the same procedure that can be found 
in nearly all versions of Windows and the easiest way to get there is to 
go to either Computer or Documents.  First, go to View and change the 
item to either List or Details, then go to Tools menu and choose options 
and go to the second tab or page of options.  I'm writing this from 
memory and so if someone else on the list finds an error in my message 
or an easier way of getting there I'll be happy to be corrected.  The 
only reason for why I recommend this procedure is that you can use your 
up or down arrow keys to read items in a folder without skipping any 
items.  You should know, however, that this option no longer works in 
the control panel as the Windows 7 control panel no longer uses a 
standard listview and navigating it may take a bit of getting used to.  
However, I make full use of the edit box in the start menu, which not 
only allows you to search for programs but also allows you to search for 
items in the control panel.
As I've said, other than the listview change I think you will find that 
JAWS 12 will work well on your laptop.
