Bridget, did you tell me you had already tried some kind of receipt printer,
or that you couldn't find one? This looks like that type of thing:
USB mini receipt printer

Otherwise, it looks like there are some label printers that hook up to a PC,
and print directly from Word, so no weird software for JAWS to work with.
Really sounds like the ticket to me:

Dymo:

http://sites.dymo.com/Solutions/Pages/Seg_cat_lndg.aspx?
SegmentName=Office(DYMO_US1)&cat=Office_LabelWriterPrinters(DYMO_US1)  (the
bottom one on this link is only $60, but I don't think the labels would be
big enough).

Brother: http://www.brother-usa.com/lp/print-address-labels.aspx
Here is the pdf brochure on it:
http://www.brother-usa.com/VirData/Content/en-US/LabelPrinters/ModelBrochure
s/QL500-550-650.pdf

I researched something interesting called "Little Printer," but it doesn't
sound like it is for on-demand printing from a word processor (and sounds
like it may not be completely developed). Here's the link, though, if you
want to look at it: http://bergcloud.com/littleprinter/

He tried something like that before we were involved. But he was using
something other than Avery and was having all sorts of problems. Also, it
was not portable. There is different sections to receive the orders and
then different sections to place the orders he gets. I do like the stickers
though if stationary. Thanks.

Hmm. Just a thought, and maybe more trouble than it's worth, but what about
using some kind of address label? You can print individual labels, and then
he could print it off and put the label onto that small piece of paper or
whatever. It'd still mean printing, but Word does an awesome job of printing
labels.

Hi, we are an AT company and we have a client who works in a parts store
that his family runs. He receives the order and needs to give it to another
person to fill. It is only a few words. he doesn't like printing a whole
page, to much of a waste. It also needs to be portable. The slips would go
in different slots to be picked up. all other job functions are fine. if
he were sighted, he would use a sticky note or a note pad or a small piece
of paper. I have been looking and have not found anything that would work.
Any thoughts? Thanks much!
