hello all,
I have a complex question. I have attemted to shorten it and be as
direct as possible.
First, for the technical question I'm hoping someone may be able to help with...
When attempting to use NVDA object navigation with a specialised
program it would only speak what was beneath the mouse pointer. If
however I gave NVDA the read window command, all of the information on
the screen was spoken. Am I correct in assuming that if NVDA can read
the programing code with the read window command it should also read
the text inside objects? I may have been doing the object navigation
wrong...
now for the teaching questions...
The consumer struggles with windows concepts and problem solving. The
consumer performs computer related tasks most effectively when step by
step instructions are provided and prefers to practice computer
related tasks and skills in a quiet private environment.
The computer and software he needs to learn to use is in a loud
working garage and cannot be relocated. The manufacture will not
permit us to have a trial of the software, and the manufactures local
salesman has permited me to use his demo equipment for initial testing
purposes, but he cannot schedule to drop the trailer with the
equipment in it at ourlocation regularly and cannot leave it with us.
The salesman also risks being punished for his cooperation, so I
hesitate to even ask...
Considering the consumers preferences and difficulties with computer
concepts and tasks and our limited access to the system he needs to
use, does anyone have suggestions for teaching the object and screen
navigation concepts? I am working on finding software that would be
easy to get access to and interest the consumer to practice with...
The object navigat`ion feature of NVDa reminds me, some, of IoS
navigation, which the consumer is also struggling with...
HELP, please
Laine
