I ran across this old email and made me remember to ask for
recommendations on learning typing with JAWS. Years ago, I had Typing
Tutor, I think. I would like to purchase something for some folk and get
it for myself to learn the laptop commands I appreciate your suggestions..
Thanks,
Michelle

Does Type Ability work with Zoom Text now? I know we checked earlier
versions and at that time, it did not.

At the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center, in Austin, TX, we have been using
Type Ability from Yes Accessible:
www.YesAccessible.com
There are both built in evaluations and with the newer version 4.1, a notice
when each lesson is completed of the typing speed and accuracy of the
student. We did notice quirks with the program in an earlier version where
it would not give speeds above 20 words per minute when a typing test was
taken, but I don't know if those were resolved in version 4.1. Anyway, 4.1
includes a lot of improvements, as well as about 22 more lessons and seems
to in general be more comprehensive.
The students finish the program having been exposed to not just typing
skills, but also Windows navigation, selection and clipboard, and other
skills. Another plus is that Type Ability has JAWS scripts and support built
into the program.

Wayne Merritt
