Good Morning Everyone,

I am writing to provide a brief introduction to the list. I am a high school student who is interested in going into the assistive tech field as a career, probably as a trainer or teacher of blind students. Currently I am an intern in our local school system's technology services department, concentrating chiefly on blindness technology. I work with our assistive technology specialists to set up and test hardware and software used by our blind students, along with conducting training sessions on such technology to teachers and technicians alike. Much of this work involves writing tip sheets and guides for the use of many access technology products, many of which will later be compiled in a Web site for our assistive technology program which we hope to launch later this year. Furthermore, I also work in our Technology Services department evaluating the accessibility of software used by the school system. As a blind user of access technology myself, I am grateful to be able to provide my perspective as a user to the school system as we work to improve the accessibility of all our technology.

You may have seen me on other NFB listservs using my personal email account. I am proud to be an active member of the National Federation of the Blind and try to contribute as best I can to our movement. I decided to join this list using my work account because I think the discussion here will provide me with invaluable resources which I can take back to my colleagues at CCPS. I look forward to reading and contributing to the discussion here.

Chris
