Hi everyone
There has often been interest in this subject, so please find below our
press release regarding a possible JAWS scripting course for the summer.
Learn JAWS Scripting From Scratch! A Comprehensive Online Six-Week Course
for the Scripting Beginner!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to write scripts for the well-known
screen-reader JAWS for Windows? Do you work with an application which is
only partly
accessible and you would like to do more so as to improve the experience?
Have you tried scripting yourself but you do not find working through help
topics
or the Scripting Manual particularly easy?
If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, then why not take part
in our six-week scripting class.
Beginning in June of this year, Hartgen Consultancy hopes to host an online
course using the popular Talking Communities conferencing software for which
there is excellent support within JAWS itself. The objective once the course
is completed is that you will have a good understanding of scripting basics
and how to go about customising JAWS to work alongside applications.
There's nothing like having someone teaching you a topic. Now, here is your
chance to learn JAWS scripting in this way.
What Do I Get When I Sign Up?
list of 8 items

products) for 15 years, who has taken the advanced JAWS scripting class from

. Plenty of time to ask questions.

How Much is the Scripting Course?
The cost for the entire course is 300 UK pounds (450 dollars). This is a
significantly lower fee than our usual one-to-one remote training rate and
should
be paid in full prior to the commencement of the course.
What Else Should I Know?
list of 2 items
. You should have a good working knowledge of JAWS and Microsoft Windows in
general. The course is likely to be fast-paced and we would not wish anyone
to be disappointed if he or she could not keep up with the rest of the
group.
. We do not cover advanced scripting topics, such as interacting directly
with applications through, for example, the Document Object Model or
object-oriented
programming. Freedom Scientific do offer such a course at their Headquarters
in Florida. Having said that, with the knowledge you gain through the
course
there is a great deal you can achieve.

How Do I Register My Interest?
This is the first such scripting class from Hartgen Consultancy. We would
therefore at this stage like to hear from anyone interested in
participating.
Unless there is sufficient interest the course will not be hosted.
To register your interest, please send an email by 31 May to
jaws at hartgen.org
and we will be in contact with you to make payment during the first part of
June prior to the course commencement date.
