This message is from Joseph Lee and was posted to the NVDA discussion
list. I have not heard most of his material but am passing it on as a
resource.

Dear NVDA users around the world,
I’m delighted to announce the launch of the second edition of my popular
NVD audio tutorial series, now officially named “Welcome to NVDA”. At
this point, the first chapter is done – recycled old 2013 edition files
and recorded the changed sections. Because of this, certain parts may
sound low quality (which I apologize).
Some of the changes between the first (2013) edition and this new
edition include:
· In chapter 1 (introduction), the last segment will now mention
various restart options added in recent NVDA releases.
· System requirements section now mentions the fact that you
need to have XP service pack 2 or later, as well as covering a scenario
where NVDA may be installed on a Windows tablet.
Future changes to be done:
· In chapter 2 (basics), a brief demonstration of touch
navigation is included. Also both desktop and laptop basic commands are
also covered.
· Due to introduction of review modes, chapter 3 (all about
objects) is planned to be “rewritten”. This includes new examples,
review modes, mouse and touch commands and when would you use screen
review and object navigation commands.
· Chapter 4 (surfing the web with NVDA) will receive major
updates, including coverage of live regions, case-sensitive find,
document review and browse mode enhancements.
· Recent MS Office and Skype enhancements will be covered in
chapter 5 (popular applications). These include Outlook’s calendar,
browse mode in MS Office and a brief overview of using Skype 7.
· Chapters 6 and 7 (preferences) will be updated to mention new
configuration options including skim reading mode.
· Configuration profiles will be covered in chapter 8 (tools)
due to time constraints.
· Add-ons manager overview section in chapter 9 will be updated
to cover the question of reading add-on documentation via a new button
in add-ons manager.
As always, the tutorials can be found at:
http://www.nvda-kr.org/en/
Under tutorials heading, there is now a new section for 2015 series
(chapter 1 is posted). The main tutorials list still points to 2013 and
will be replaced with 2015 versions as time goes on. If you want a
complete tutorial package, the 2013 edition can be downloaded as a zip
file (the entire tutorial lasts about ten hours and covers everything
from installation to add-ons, including all configurable settings for
NVDA 2013.1). As for the completion of this project, I’m looking at
before Easter (by end of March) due to academic commitments.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph
P.S. Anyone willing to transcribe the entire tutorial set or help me do
it and/or turn it into DAISY format later?
