Make sure that they're thumv keys are set so that they make sense. I work with people with their speech on when I am on the phone. They can choose whether to use it or not when we are not working together by phone. That is the only way I know to even guess what they are pressing. If the braille note is not doing the right thing, they are not pressing the right keys.

First, does anyone know of any mneumonic devices that help students remember the order of the thumb keys on the apex? Second, I will be teaching the student by phone, so what would be a reliable way to know if they are pressing the correct keys?
