Greetings:

I think that it may be useful to understand that the relationship between an OS and the device it supports may differ significantly depending on the purpose and function of each component in the equation.

I very recently used a parking ramp kiosk which was obviously operating on either Windows CE or Windows Mobile. Similarly I voted and cast my ballot with complete confidence last year on a machine operating Windows Mobile. Well on second thought perhaps that ex planes things???

Seriously I would not dismiss, out of hand, a device based Solly on an text book analysis of the OS and it's version.

I just connected an Analog Telephone Adapter provided by my VOIP service. It may not even have an OS who's name or designation anyone on this list would recognize. It's working as expected, so it is of no issue.

At the same time, it is true that specialized hardware designed to provide accessibility can suffer from this effect, perhaps a more thoughtful functional analysis of a braille display and it's features might help us understand and ultimately agree with your point of view.
