Jim,

I would advise not disabling the automatic update feature of Firefox, even though it may seem like an easy fix. If you do this, you also won't receive necessary security updates, making your browser more and more vulnerable over time. Think of it this way: you might be fearful about being around people who are sick but you wouldn't want to avoid visiting a doctor in order to stay away from them, as that would, ironically, increase the odds of something going wrong with your own body over time. Instead, I would recommend downloading Firefox ESR, which will keep you on an older version for a while, ensuring accessibility won't break, but you'll still receive the necessary updates to keep your browser secure. Just Google Firefox ESR Branch and you'll surely find it. Just make sure the download link goes to Mozilla.org.

I've found that heading navigation in particular with NVDA can be flakey, and that very large web pages load very very slowly. Not sure what the video says, since there are no captions. It seems like Chrome is now also a viable option. The good news about ESR is that it will work with webvisum still.

I absolutely agree that using the ESR branch of Firefox is essential for users of JAWS. NVDA users will find that their mileage will vary quite a bit when using NVDA with Quantum. A system with super-fast specs, an SSD and lots of RAM will present some odd focus management issues but things may function surprisingly well. Slower machines with lower specs may not perform as well. I haven't seen the entire video but I'm wondering where Edge comes into play here.
