I actually would recommend it for students. They have raise the bar for other manufacturers with a 30 hour battery life and 20 self. There are 14 cell diplays that cost more than twice as much. I like the keyboard, but especially the feel of the extremely firm braille.. It may buzz like a dragonfly and refreshed slowly, but most proficient braille readers are not going to get ahead of it. And it’s very durable. The firmware upgrades have improved the scratchpad and fix many of its features and it will take an SD card. It’s especially good at the book reader or for working with simple notes.

It can be used as a display and a simple note taker. It does not have cursor
routing keys. It is meant to be an inexpensive product and it does work as
that. It will not compare favorably with other displays and note takers.

It only has 20 cells.
It refreshes more slowly than other displays and note takers
Does not have cursor routing keys
I find the user manual somewhat confusing

I would not recommend it for students but many teachers get it because they
can use Federal Quota Funds.

Hello:

It is my understanding that the Orbit is only capable of reading files
and being a notetaker. It cannot be used as a display.
