Hi everyone,

I applied for this position via workintexas.com and there are some parts of the online Texas Application for Employment that are not recognizable by JAWS when you initially set it up. So, you may want to enlist sighted assistance or take advantage of the free Job Seeker offer through AIRA. Just go to http://aira.io and sign up for a free account if you do not have a subscription. Trust me, you will have a much better experience and an easier time filling out that application if you do.
There is a Microsoft Word version of this application, but it is not very JAWS-friendly. You have more restrictions on how much text you can put into the required fields and you cannot change the restrictions or the font sizes. Even though JAWS will say that all of your text is in the required fields, it may not be recognizable by a sighted person. I tried saving it as a different file and unprotecting the file, but it will not allow you to unprotect the document without the correct password. So I recommend that you submit your application via workintexas.com. Hope this information is helpful and good luck to those who apply for this position.

> Are you familiar with WCAG 2.0 and Section 508? If so, you might have what it takes to join the TWC Accessibility Team. Our team works to make sure all electronic content can be used by people with a wide range of abilities – for example, people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people who have limited mobility that prevents them from using a computer mouse effectively. We work with content such as websites, web applications, forms, Office and PDF documents, eLearning content, and most any other electronic content or device that has a user interface.
>
> We are looking for someone who not only has knowledge of accessibility of electronic resources, but also has strong interpersonal communication, writing, organizational, planning, and presentation skills.
> Don’t hesitate to apply if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria; if you have good accessibility skills in some areas, we can train you to bring up areas of limited knowledge.
